In all the previous versions of ACDSee, both on PC and Mac, I have found that the View options work just fine. However, in Beta 5, and the previous ones as well, I cannot see any difference when I select "Fit Image", "Fit Width" or "Fit Height" as the only thing that seems to work is "Actual Size"

I assumed that I could make a small or large picture equally fit the width of the screen or to the height of the screen but this feature in Preferences does not seem to work.

Am I doing something wrong or is it not implemented yet please?

I find that large images are shrunk to 'fit' into the window, but anything smaller than the window is not expanded to 'fit'. In Ultimate (I run it in Bootcamp) the 'fit' option expands to fit as well as shrinks to fit. When is that capability planned for the Mac version?

Should we expect responses in these forums?

That is precisely what I am asking - why do we not have the 'expand to fit' as well as shrink to fit?

With regard to replies, well, I complained to customer services who said that they would escalate the lack of response to questions on the forum to 'management'. That was two weeks ago and so far nobody has deigned to reply.

It does seem pointless as a Beta user when you are encouraged to feed back when you sign up to each beta release via the forum and yet there is nobody within the company who is watching or responding to what is written. Do they actually want our feedback or not?

As an ACDSee Mac v3 purchaser it is not encouraging to have to wade through all these beta releases and still not have a product after many months to replace it. It makes you wonder if they are actively developing the Mac product or whether they just trot out betas too keep Mac users sweet for a little bit longer with the minimum of effort.

          Hi JimO and tomb01,

Thank you for your feedback. Yes, we review all feedback from Beta users but due to volume we are not able to reply to each one. Nonetheless, I assure you we value the feedback and read them all.

We've received feedback regarding the behaviour of Fit Image in the past, for example:

          - http://forum.acdsee.com/forum/acdsee...-to-fit-screen

Although we already have this issue entered in our internal bug tracking system, I've flagged it for further review given your additional input, and will discuss with the product team.

          Best regards,
          David

            Thanks David,

If I may suggest, it could be worth you posting a message at the head of the Beta forum to say how you treat feedback.

Thanks for resolving the issue for us.

Sigh, just started looking at Beta 7, and sadly this issue is still present.

Well, robo01, perhaps we will have to wait for Beta 26 or 30 for something so basic to the ACDSee functionality we have all grown used to!

Well, Beta 8 still has the same problems.... Sigh.

ACD Systems has bombarded me with emails encouraging me to buy Canvas at a discounted price. They do not seem to realise that the service they have given us on this problem is counter-productive.

It has meant that I have chosen Affinity Designer instead because I know that I can get good customer support from them. Such a pity that they cannot see the bigger picture as we have been asking for basic functionality that has been present in all previous iterations of ACDSee and we are now on Beta 8!

For file management (DAM) I switched to Apple Photos; rock solid and lightning fast even with 100K images loaded. I have a half dozen plug-ins that are also rock solid with Photos; Affinity is one of them. Best of both worlds. The latest OS (High Sierra) also significantly added to Photos capability. There are real advantages to be vertically integrated under OS.

To be fair, I think that beta 8 seems better than previous releases. Most of my images now fit to width except some which may be lower than some threshold in terms of size. Am I imagining this or has some work been done since Beta 7?

I have just updated to the Final beta v9 and now "Fit Image" works perfectly! Well done ACDSee. From my point anyway, I consider this case closed.

Agreed, JimO. Just installed it as well. Seems snappy, and the view mode seems fixed. The only other major complaint I had was the absence of the video thumbnail that they have in the Windows version. I have a lot of videos, too, and the Mac video thumbnail for many of them is a single black icon, where on Windows it is 4 small pics from the video which actually let you have a chance of determining which video it actually is.... Sigh.

Thank you for helping us make ACDSee better. Please enjoy beta 9 and let us know if you have any more feedback.

                              Best regards,
