  • Is there a simple flow chart somewhere...

...that shows the differences between 'Save' (under the file menu), 'Save as..', 'Save a copy..', 'Export..', (save button) and 'Save changes and exit' (done button)?

And an explanation of what the 'developed' and 'original' folders that appear in windows explorer are?

    Thanks

Well, I can help with some of them

Save just saves the picture over its existing file (that is, just updating the same picture)
Save As allows you to save the picture as a different picture name
Export allows you to export the picture as a different file name and as a different file type if you want to

The [originals] is a hidden folder that a picture is copied into when you first edit it. That is, it saves the "original" file you started with in case you ever want to get back to it.

I've never noticed a [developed] folder before!

Then you don't have any raw files. AC does store jpg proxies for developed raw files in this folder.
