  • Creating a Pearl in Canvas Draw?

I am trying to follow the steps shown in the picture below.
The fourth step is very confusing.
    Any help would be appreciated!

This is a perfect case for using layers. Draw the parts of your stack in layers. You can then change the order of the layers, change transparencies, colors, blurring, etc. without having one operation interfere with the other.

This is the first time I tried to use the knife tool. A bit of trial and error; draw the individual sections with the knife tool making sure you overlap the outer line of circle at the beginning and end of the section, when you release the tool, the circle will be separated into those individual sections. I filled each section with a color then eliminated the lines. I don't think it's necessary to use layers, I like just stacking parts, but you certainly can use layers.

What I could not understand was step two, and how it is applied to step four.

After being blurred in step three, that object isn't used until being stacked onto the sphere in step 8.

As Vegas says, it's the front most of the final stack of objects.

I can see the blur extending beyond each pearl.
I is very visible when displayed on a black background.
Is there a way to trim this blur?

Maybe change the Attributes line edge to be on the outside?

This is the only way I could eliminate the penumbra.

Thanks, KohanMike! After years of Canvas use and hundreds of visits to Pen Attributes, I never paid attention to that part of the screen which determines line placement. Lots of times I crabbed when Canvas placed the middle of a heavy line on the X or Y coordinates and made manual changes to object placement to get the inside or outside of the line to be where I wanted it.
