  • Cataloging process stalls with large collection of images

I finally decided to take the plunge and catalog my image collection under Pictures in ACDSee Photo Studio for Mac 4.

What I have discovered is with a very large image collection, the task is not performed efficiently, but rather has to be done in starts and stops.

An overnight run of Catalog stopped before the task was even half finished. It appears restarting the Catalog causes the process to begin with images that have already been cataloged. I'm resorting to going to individual folders, and leaving the folders open until the thumbnails have been rendered.

The nice thing about all this trouble is, however, a folder's thumbnails are rendered almost instantaneously once they become part of the catalog the next time you go to that folder.

Another example of ongoing problems with working with large collections. Just can't seem to solve this problem, it's been years now.
