  • Trouble with cropping.

    This probably isn't a problem per se, as much as it is me not understanding how to do it. When I crop an image, after a hit the "apply crop" button, everything else in the image turns white, as opposed to being deleted, with the new image size. How do I get the image to become simply the "cropped" portion?

    Thanks all;

    Hi Artie - I've noticed that your question has gone unanswered for a day and a half. I'm guessing that many other normal Forum responders aren't quite sure exactly what you are doing. So let me be the one ask you to spell out your question/problem in more detail:

    1. Exactly what software and what version are you using?

    2. Do you really mean ACD Photo Editor? My version is Version 10, Build 26. Is that the same as what you are using?

    3. In my version, when I perform a crop function, there is no such button as "apply crop" -- only Done or Cancel.

    So, I'm pretty lost as to the exact nature of your problem. If you can fill in some of the missing details, your fellow Forum members will be happy to help you sort it out.

      Hi Bill. Thanks for responding. I'm using Photo Editor 6, build 313. The best way I can explain, is by example. I hope the forum lets me post these pics. The 1st image is the original. The 2nd image is cropped using PE6. Note that the image is still the same size as the original, but with the rest of the pic "whited" out. The 3rd image is the same pic cropped using NeoPaint. Note that NeoPaint only kept the part that I cropped, with a new image size. That's the function I want. This isn't a huge deal since I can always just use NeoPaint, but I got Photo Editor as part of a "Family Pack" and I thought it would be fun to play with. But there are certain functions I can't seem to figure out.

      Thanks for any assistance that you can offer.

        I found a PE FAQ which addresses this, but doesn't really help. Item #4: Select Freeform. What is that? How do I select it?
