  • Copy metadata tag to another one

    Hi,

I use IPTC/Title to identify my pictures, but when exporting to flickr the IPTC/Main Title is used when defining IPTC/Title as title. Is there an easy way (actions, macros ?) to copy for all pictures IPTC/Tiltle to IPTC/Main Title ?

    Thanks !

AFAIK "IPTC:Main Title" is not a recognized IPTC standard field, but it may well be used by some application or other to refer to one of the standard IPTC fields, for instance ACDSee's IPTC metadata uses the label "Title" but that information is actually IPTC:ObjectName (and also XMP-dc:Title.

I don't use flikr, but from what I can find in the flikr forum, if IPTC:ObjectName is present it goes into the title field, if not present then IPTC:Headline is used. If that is not present then the filename is used.

Within ACDSee (at least in the Ultimate version), you can use a custom Metadata Preset to copy for instance the ACDSee Caption to the IPTC title (which will then show in the metadata as IPTC:ObjectName and in XMP-dc:Title. In that same preset, you could also copy the ACDSee Caption to IPTC:Headline

In ACDSee's Metadata Presets, you can only copy into the IPTC tags/fields that are available in the preset, and you can only copy from the items in the pull down properties lists, though they are pretty extensive.

Outside of that, you would have to resort to something like the free ExifTool utility by Phil Harvey

Thanks, I only have pro AcdSee, but Exiftool is a nice idea.

According to the manual for Photo Studio Pro 2021 it has ability to use Metadata presets. Manage mode, select image or images, then in right hand pane, Properties->Metadata Tab and near the top you should see Metadata Presets. Use the pull down, select Manage Presets and build your preset to taste.
