  • Database Size for ACDSee

My laptop has 475 GB and needs about 100 GB to function, so I use Dropbox and OneDrive to store my files.

When I try to create a backup ACDSee database it tells me it needs more than 500 GB and that I don't have enough room to create it - and that is without thumbnails or face recognition set up.
I even created a folder in Dropbox to create the Database so it wouldn't be constrained by the size of my laptop.

Does anyone have any suggestions about how I can create a database?

Hi, my Ultimate 2022 database is less than 10 GB (without thumbnails) for 96 000 pictures. Backup file is 100 MB (compressed and without thumbnails).

Hi, I just tried it again and it says it is 541 GB and that there is not enough space on the Selected Drive. I chose OneDrive which has over 1000 GB still available. I've tried to save it to Dropbox and I get the same message and I have over a TB still available over there.

My hard drive only has 475 GB so I don't know how I can get this backup created. I chose no thumbnails.

This section of the forum is supposed to be for posts relating to ACDSee's SDK (Software Development Kit)

Your post would likely realize better response if you posted in the forum section that is relative to the particular version you are using (for example Ultimate, Pro or Home)

When you do that, can you provide some details.
For example to better understand your size of backup question, it would help if you indicated the size of your collection, and where it is kept. Also confirmation that you are using the Tools\Database\Backup Database, along with screen shots of the following ACDSee Database Backup Wizard dialogs.
