  • How do I insert a new clip in a no gaps collection of clips

I recently acquired Luxea 6 and have been working with it. However, one thing I can't seem to figure out is how to insert a clip into an existing timeline of clips. I have tried splitting and pasting, but that just adds the clip to a new track which isn't helpful. I need to push all the videos on the right, to the right, to accept the new clip. I'll call it an ripple insert .

Seems to me to be an essential function, so I must just not have figured it out yet. I can select all of the clips downstream and then move them all to the right and then insert, but with a timeline that is over one hour, and dozens of clips, that method is pretty clunky. Who has the secret I am looking for?

    Thanks

Luxea 6 does not at present have a "ripple insert function", but it does have "Select Succeeding media" and "Add to timeline at playhead"

The method I use is as follows.

For the sake of example, the original video clips are on Track 1.

1/. Position the timeline cursor/caret (Luxea refers to it as the Playhead) at the point where you want to insert the clip
2/. If the existing video in Track 1 at that point isn't already split, select it and split it
3/. Hover the mouse cursor over the clip to be inserted in the media pane, right click and select "Add to timeline at Playhead". That will place the new clip on the next track up (in this example track 2), with the start positioned at the Playhead.
4/. Select the first original clip to the right of the Playhead
5/. Select Edit/Select/Succeeding media (this selects all clips in the original time line to the right of the Playhead
6/. Drag right until the start of the selected video clip group lines up with the end of the new clip above it (indicated by a blue line appearing)
7/. Select the new clip and pull it down into the gap.
