Anyone using Apple Photos?

Since ACDSee has no healing tool i saved a photo to my desk top. I then imported it into Apple Photos, used the healing tool and then exported it to my desktop. The
healing tool did its job but the exported photo lost all its IPTC and metadata information. The original on my desk top when opened in ACDSee still retains that information.
Is there a way to retain this information when using Apple Photos, or for that matter any other program? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I use Apple Photos not for corrections but for sharing. However, I used the healing tool on an image and then exported it for test purposes and all of my IPTC Core data was there.

1. Make sure when you export from Photos using the Export option under the File Menu that you select the “Include Title, Keywords, and ’Description” along with the “Location Information”.
2. When you enter data in ACDSee are you using the “Properties” options; such as “IPTC Core” or “EXIF” options. My experience has been that any data that you enter under the “Organize” option is not stored with the image file and so Photos will not see the data. For example, if you attach a RED label to an image or add Keywords from the section, when you bring that into Photos they will not be there and thus not present on export.

You may want to take a look at Affinity Photo as an alternative to editing in Apple Photos. You can get versions that run on both the Mac and an iPad.

Excellent info but you don't need to go through all that trouble. Apple Photos runs just about any other app as a plug in seamlessly. I use Photos as my core manager and organizer and have a suite of professional plugins for editing. One click in Photos Edit mode brings up Affinity or any other app instantly and seamlessly with the image you're working on loaded and ready to edit. I use several editing apps to get the results I want. I found this hybrid setup to be the best of all worlds. You have to tell Photos to connect with your plug-in apps. Not hard, there are instructions. The app developers must have set up the app to connect to Photos, but most of the important ones have already. Affinity is one of them.

Thank you both for your replies. I am now able to retain IPTC Core and EXIF information. Metadata is lost but easy enough to input once file is in ACDSee.
