Empty Folders with Down Arrow

I have 2 folders, Documents and Downloads, that say "There are no items in the selected folder" when I click on them. But there are. They both have a "Down" arrow on them. Please see pic below. Any idea why I can't see the contents?

Left Pane: Files and Folders
Right Pane: ACDSee Photo Studio, V Documents, V Downloads
