I like ACDSee, but when will we get the same features as PC users?
I'd be happy to pay extra if we could get the full application on Mac...
    (Feeling a bit like a second-class citizen).

The Mac architecture is very different to that of a PC. When a company launches a version for a different platform, it may take several years for it to catch up. ACDSee for PC has been in development for many, many years longer than the Mac version.

Is the 8.1 update limited to macos 12.x? Still running BigSur for some older programs and the update is not offered to me.

ON1 PR is both for Mac and Windows, so your suggestion is quite wrong. As I buyed ACDSee 8 for Mac and ON1, I can see the work remaining to improve ACDSee for Mac, the Windows version (I don't have it) has much more good opinions in photo softs advices.
Last update, nothing amazing, is december 2021, others competitors give 2 or 3 updates /year ! I hope some very great update will come this fall, but Mac users are not the first on the roadmap.

I don't think you understood my point. Maybe ON1 PR was developed for both platforms form the start. ACDSee wasn't.

My suggestion is NOT wrong - I know from working closely as an internal beta tester for another software company that this can be the case.
