And to us all! Part of the confusion, I think, originates with ACDSee's use of a proprietary database for keywords (incompatible with non-ACDSee apps). For an image exported from Mac Studio to contain keywords in a form standard to the industry, one has to add EXIF/IPTC keywords in ADCSee prior to the export. That's a second set of keywords. The embed action creates those keywords. My workflow in ACDSee Mac Studio 9 is to embed in every image I process.

Here's a link to the user guide for ACDSee Photo Studio Mac 9 (sorry, the linking process didn't seem to work): https://help.acdsystems.com/en/acdse...user-guide.pdf . There one can find numerous references to using keywords, but it needs rewriting for better clarity.

I have suggested that Adam post a YouTube video that fully explains key-wording, but his managers are unlikely to allocate the time for Photo Studio for Mac, the baby sister to its bigger Windows applications.

Sorry to jump on tis thread but keywords remain a complete mystery to me too. There are keywords under Organise which seem to work as expected but those keywords when allocated do not show under Properties (IPTC specifically). As such when I export an image there are no keywords arched. Am I missing a trick? Am on Mac.

    Thanks OldRadioGuy!
My keywords are not IPTC, but when I chose the ACDSee Metadata Option, they showed up!
    That's great!
Now I have Keywords showing in the Status Bar, in the LIST View, and in Manage Mode (which is where I originally wanted them to show up).
    Thanks again for your help!

    In Manage Mode:

    1. Select an image thumbnail
    2. Select the Properties panel on the right
    3. Immediately below the Organize/Properties bar is a bar with metadata options. Click the Up-Down arrow at the extreme right and select IPTC Core.

Values in various IPTC categories, including Keywords, are now shown.

    AHA once more!
Still a bit of a workaround, but I managed to get the Keywords to appear in the Status Bar (bottom of the window) using Preferences again.
You need to drag ACDSee Metadata to the little window, and THEN use the DROPDOWN to select Keywords (see the screen grab).
It didn't work for me until I re-launched the App.

Well, it's a bit of a workaround, but I managed to get the Keywords to show in LIST view (which is better than nothing).
They didn't appear when I first dragged "Keywords" over, but then I moved the word up in the list, and the Keywords suddenly showed up.
I'm hoping there will be a way to get them to show in Thumbnail view, if anyone knows of a way to do it.

I also have Category or Keyword selected in Thumbnail preferences - but all that shows is a green tag.
I hope I'm wrong, but I'm beginning to suspect this is another omission that Mac users have to endure...

Thanks AliGW, but I don't see either of those options.
The image shows my Organise tab, and I've failed to find a way to display the actual keywords there.

I have also searched and searched for a way to show keywords on the thumbnails, without success.

Just in case it would help, I reset all preferences to the default (that was a surprise) but still no joy...

I don't have the Mac version, but there are two ways that may be avalable to you:

    1. Add the keywords to the thumbnail.
    2. With the thumbnail selected, look at the Organise tab on the right and the keywords for that image are listed at the top of the Keywords section.

  • Ascertain what keywords have been assigned to a file?

I know how to add keywords to an image, but (other than searching ALL my keywords to see whether one or more are ticked) I can't see how can I easily tell what keywords have been assigned to a given image in the browser?
Working...
