I would like to see (if it does not already exist somehow) the ability to search for a word in a group of images, and replace the word with something. In my situation, the bird taxonomists have recently changed the names of several species. So , for example, I want to change the scientific name for Ruby-crowned Kinglet from Regulus calendula to Corthylio calendula in those images. While we are at it, is it possible to change fonts in the IPTC field? Scientific names should be in italics.

Search and replace function in IPTC

Hi Bruce,
To search and replace, I would suggest the following:
1) Using the Quick Search bar, search for the items with the old term.
2) In the file list, select all the items that were returned by the search.
3) In the Properties pane, manually replace the old term with the new term and hit Apply.
For more info about using the Quick Search bar, please see the Help file or let me know if you have further questions.
Regards,
David

David - I have only now found time to experiment with your suggestion. Unless I am missing something, it is not a "find and replace" function. In my case, the names I want to change are in image files already all filed together in folders (e.g. "Bald Eagle"). So locating them is not the problem, but manually (if I understand you correctly) changing the word in each file metadata window is - this can take a long time with hundreds of image files in a folder. I can't change the whole metadata file for all because they contain different details besides the name. Bruce

Hi Bruce,
Thanks for clarifying. My suggestion would work if you wanted to update a specific field of multiple photos and that field was the exact same in all the photos (example: they all had the exact same Description "Regulus calendula"). However, if the Descriptions were not all exactly the same, then you are right, this suggestion does not work and a "search and replace" type of function would be necessary. Unfortunately, ACDSee doesn't have this capability. I'll review this with the product team.
Thank you,
David
