  • HTML Gallery creation

I have tried in all versions of ACDsee I have used and even this 2022 edition still fails to create galleries for web pages some of the options work but only a couple the rest just fail to produce a workable one.
The page is too small or only half displays.
Not a serious problem for me but wonder why it is still included when it is not useable
As anyone managed to create a useable one .

I posted the same here a while ago (see below) seems like no one is using them and I could not get any of them to work. Pretty pants really

Anyone tried generating HTML Albums? - ACD Systems International Inc. (acdsee.com)

    Steve.

Yes I have asked for about the last five or six versions and nothing as changed still don't work correctly but no response from anyone in the company.

Glad I found this post. I was afraid I was doing something wrong. It is not a feature I use a lot, but it is something I use.

Can I ask out of interest what specifically doesn't work for you.

It's not something that I use much, but I get workable HTML Albums in U2022 (at least using Gallery Style 6) for both the thumbnail pages, the photo pages and the slide show, with the display being shown in the current Firetrox browser.
          .
It isn't what I would call overly intuitive, and it certainly lacks an amount of user control over certain aspects of the layout (for example if I display the ACDSee caption, the word Caption is placed under the image on the left hand side, and the caption itself is crunched up on the right hand side, breaking into two rows on longer captions, where it could easily be done in one line).

From my perspective, I want to use Gallery Style 4 with a large image with a set of index images. Similar Galleries I tried have the same problem. When I pick four images from the image index and create the HTML Album I end up with a web page that contains one index image with a slider and and a large image the same height as the index image with a slider. The resulting page is is not aware of screen size so even on my large monitor it is a very tiny HTML page.

This is a capture of a HTML Album from U2022 in a full screen browser window .

Gallery Style 6 seems to work fine, but it is not the one I was trying to use :-(

Yep, Gallery Style 4 is the same here, virtually useless. And sadly now I've checked, it was the same in U2021. One wonders whether this was reported directly to support by any users for the 2021 version and if so why it wasn't fixed in the 2021 release. Perhaps even more importantly why in house testing didn't pick it up prior to release of either version. Doesn't say a lot for QA.

That is a good point, I never even considered that. Something I will look into now. Thanks.

This theme exists since at lest ten years and uses JS functions. When run on a web server it works well. You must not just double click "index.html" on your local drive and expect it to work. Imho all themes are totally outdated and should be rewriten.
