  • Map pane is just shows a blank map/area

UPDATE: I started up the program again today and it now just loads. I didn't change anything, clean anything, update anything (unless Windows did something behind the scenes), or even try anything in this post.

Within the last few weeks, the map no longer displays. It is just a white/grey background without any map. No noticeable errors.

I mention a few weeks because I installed the latest version of ACDSee within the last 2 or 3 weeks.

    I am currently on:

    Windows 10
    ACDSee Photo Studio Ultimate 2022
    Version: 15.1 (Build 2922)

I have tried the basics of restarting ACDSee and even restarting my computer. I do not want to go and uninstall ACDSee as a whole since that is always a pain.

Not sure what else to do.

I'm running Ultimate 2022 v15.1 build 2922 on Windows 10 Pro 21H2 Build 19044.1706, and the map pane is working.

You need an internet connection for it to work, but if there isn't one, I get the following display, so I don't think that is your problem.

Are you by any chance running 3rd party security or antivirus software. If so I would try temporarily disabling it. There have been a number of posts relating to issues caused by 3rd party antivirus programs.

Other than that, I would suggest you raise a support request at https://www.acdsee.com/en/support/form/

I had same problem, solved it by killing ACDSee commander and restarting ACDSee ultimate.

        Hi,

Google has had some intermittent issues with their Maps service in the last couple of months. It is possible that the internal browser has cached the Google Maps widget while it was in a bad state or something similar.

You could try clearing the WebView2 browser cache and see if that resolves the problem. With ACDSee closed, open a File Explorer window and navigate to your Temp directory, then find the ACDWebViewCache folder. The easiest way to get there is to type "%temp%\ACDWebViewCache" in the address bar, as in this screenshot:

Then delete the "ACDSee Photo Studio Ultimate 2022" folder, and try This might resolve the issue if it is related to some bad cached data.

The Map pane is working correctly for me in Ultimate 2022, build 2922.

        Thanks,
        Tristan H.

Thank you for all the replies. I started up the program again today and it now just loads. I don't get it. I didn't change anything. I guess I can not complain. But it is frustrating that for a week or more it does not work. Now, only after posting about the issue, it loads.

Same thing today, could not get it working (restart PC, deleting temp cache, restarting ACDsee...), internet connection is working, No gremlins.
Maybe they should try Openstreetmaps or ...

I fortunately haven't experienced that problem here in Ultimate 2022, build 2922, however out of interest, what happens if, when the map is blank, you click into the "Search for Location" and type in a local street or suburb name?. That would normally force the map to update to show that area.

The search for location field does not appear. Full map panel is empty. I submitted to support. (same today).

                    Interesting.
If you look at the screen shot posted in carabs original post, the "search for location" entry box was present, though the map below it was blank.

The "Search for location" doesn't appear if there is no internet connection, but in that case here there is also the message shown below

I wonder whether this could be an issue at the internet service provider end, rather than something in the WebGL api?

Internet connection is OK as you can see with this message. The pane no longer appears (3 days now). I did not find any log file to look at.
The map pane usually works (I had the problem once), now it never appears. If there were an easy way to backup Ul2022 pramaters (ALL) I would try to reinstall.

Finally : I reinstalled U2022 over itself (without removing it before), map pane is back ! Parameters, exports and ... are not lost of course.

I don't know if this will help anyone:
I've noticed before that photos in a directory don't show up on the map.
After right clicking on one of them and clicking on "Map" / "Show on map" ("Carte" / "Afficher sur la carte" in French version), it appears on the map.
Then, to show the location of the other photos, I just had to close and restart U22.
However, the statement "The browser you are using does not support the Google Maps JavaScript API. We recommend that you change your browser" is displayed...

I thought that the U2022 15.1.0.2910 update to have the Map panel use Microsoft Edge WebView2 in place of Internet Explorer had fixed that, and I've certainly not experienced that warning message here in either build 2910 or the current build 2922.

What is your default browser, and have you updated your U2022?. (I'm currently using Firefox 100.0.2).

Thank you for addressing my concern, Geryfox.
I also use Firefox (100.0.2) but I uninstalled Edge with an uninstaller. Maybe it's because of that.
I have to admit that I don't mind this mention as everything works normally anyway...
