It took me a while to get started with it. I used method A and it worked. Make sure that the old USB disk is not connected, otherwise the Change Binding button will not be available. Connect the new drive, of course.

Hi Greyfox,
Thanks for your comment. I'll probably go for option 1.

If you have transferred your images to a different external drive, then you have three options.
(a) From within ACDSee go to Tools\Database\Database Maintenance, and use the Change Binding Function.
For information about this function see
https://support.acdsee.com/en/suppor...-new-computer-
and
https://support.acdsee.com/en/suppor...s-not-mounted-
or
(b) Use the command line utility "VolumeID by SysInternals to change the Volume Serial Number of the new drive to that of the old one. You need to be comfortable working in command line mode to use this utility.
or
(c) If you have all your metadata embedded in the images, you can start a new database and use Tools\Database\Catalog to read the metadata from the images into it. If you are using a version of Ultimate before the current one, then the catalog process should be done in batches of perhaps less then 50,000 at a time.
For large collections this option is going to take a lot of time. Also I have experienced some issues with multi level "Collections" not restructuring correctly so if you use multilevel collections I would perhaps avoid this option..Last edited by Greyfox; 05-19-2022, 06:33 AM.
