Support for OM System (former Olympus) OM-1 RAW files

Hello, I used Canon for 40 years. Switched three years ago to Sony and Olympus, so far so good. I use ACDSEE mostly for browsing and sorting my files and choose which to keep and delete. I use ACDSEE for a very long time. Early this year I upgraded my Olympus camera to the new flagship OM-1 for specific use. I asked ACDSEE to add it to the supported cameras several times now. All my editing software has been updated adding this camera, unfortunately ACDSEE still hasn't. I can't believe I'm the only one using that camera in ACDSEE.

Adobe DNG converter is available as a free download. You don't need Photoshop.

The current version (at time of writing) is 14.4.0.1121 and it is able to process the 5184 x 3888 ORF raw files from the OM-1 camera, however it does not apply lens correction (at least for the OM 12-40mm F2.8 II lens used in the images I tested), and the Lensfun correction used by ACDSee doesn't currently support that lens, so correction has to be applied manually in ACDSee Develop mode.

Re LensFun: alternatively one can copy paste the older 12-40 profile within the olympus lensfun XML data file and change the lens name (to that shown in exif). The lenses aren't so different that it would make much of a difference (and having created my own lens profiles, I learned that lensfun data isn't all that accurate anyway). I am still hopeful ACDSee will some day support embedded lens correction data like other apps do.

You're not the only one, but the cameras aren't coming out very fast either. I've submitted a ticket also as a reminder. Did you provide sample images to ACDSee as suggested?

I use DxO PhotoLab for RAW conversion.

I only use ACDSEE for image browsing, sorting and managing. I do have PS, DxO PhotoLab and some other software to edit. That's just my workflow.

For those who want LensFun support for the OM-1 and see their lens profiles automatically recognized when using converted ORF to DNG (until ACDSee publish a RAW model for the OM-1), replace the original mil-olympus.xml file located in the LensFun sub-folder of the main application folder (recommend that you keep a backup copy of the original file) with the corrected file in the attached zip (it need not be renamed). Once Ultimate is launched again, the lens profiles will be recognized (see image below). This file adds the OM-1 to the list of supported cameras, AND also fixes a few bugs that prevented some lens profiles from appearing (I've sent the corrected version to ACDSee and LensFun but they never used it). Disclaimer: USE AT YOUR OWN RISK (though there isn't any risk really it's just an xml file; if it doesn't work, simply put the old file back if you kept a backup copy). I didn't add the new 12-40mm MkII since I don't have access to the exact EXIF data. I can if someone does provide me the exact EXIF Lens Info, but it will be using the original 12-40mm correction data, which is probably close enough until a new profile is created.

Yes, it's been 4 months since the camera's release and availability. I too have submitted raw files to them but nothing yet. Wanted to take advantage of the current summer deals to upgrade but won't do so until support is added for the OM-1. ACDSee to me is still the best viewer and organizer and a fantastic photo editor as well.

Yes, that's why I can't advertise ACDSEE to friends. It takes far too long to add (serieus) cameras and issues are not always taken serieus or take too long. From the beginning I've asked for support and have sent several RAW files. I still have to shoot in JPG and ORF to be able to browse with ACDSEE like I'm used to. All my editing software supports the new OM-1 for some time now. I don't use it for editing. It's only browsing, comparing and viewing purposes. Because I work with Sony, OM System, my drone and older Canon RAW files I prefer just one viewer for all, not the ones that come with the brands.

I agree. Still no support for the OM-1; it forces me to shoot JPEGs and convert every RAW files to DNG, and still can't manage my ORF's, which will take days of work to add keywords and categories once ACDSee gets to it, what a pain that is. Now my only hope is that someone in ACDSee team buys an OM-1. If I quote ACDSee advertising.... "Our proven track-record of promoting and adopting new camera technologies and equipment has been a touchstone of ACDSee software development. The latest release of Ultimate is no exception..." really? When can we expect the next update release?

I submitted a ticket back in April and got a response to the effect that the team was aware of the issue and had RAW files.

I think the ACDSEE development team is pretty small at the moment and probably doesn't have the bandwidth to do updates. My hope is that it will be fixed in the 2023 version which based on past history could be in the next couple of months.

Currently I shoot RAW and either batch export in TIFF format from OM Workspace or use DXO Photolab and batch export as DNG after using a custom preset.

TX, exactly my thoughts, I remain hopeful. My main issue isn't the development, but the inability to assign keywords and categories to ORFs. By the time ACDSee gets to it, I'll have thousands of images to process in arrears.
