I have Ultimate 2023 installed on 2 PCs at home (mine and my wife's) and both have images from a network drive cataloged in the database. On my wife's PC, she updated the categories for some of the images and then embedded the metadata into the images including the categories and keywords.
In the meantime, from the other PC, I had added the same new categories she had used, but I hadn't actually assigned them to any image yet. I then re-cataloged the images she updated to import the category changes she made. Since I added the same category names as she did, I thought all would be fine. However, those categories were now showing up on my PC twice. I meant to delete the one I had created and had not assigned to any images yet, but I accidentally deleted the category that imported when I re-cataloged the images.
To get the category and keyword data back that she had entered, I figured I would just have to re-catalog the files again since the images should still have the metadata embedded in them. I've verified that the metadata is indeed still in the images, however, running the Catalog Files option is not reapplying the changes she made.
I tried a couple of other things as well to no avail:

- I deleted the category I created that matched what she used and then re-cataloged
- When I deleted the category, it turned on the 'Embed Pending' icon. I tried clearing that and then re-cataloged
- I went back onto my wife's PC and unchecked the category and rechecked it and even added a new category and then embedded the metadata and then re-cataloged from my PC. When doing this, even the new category didn't import even though it was showing in the metadata when using the exiftool.
