Shape selection will not allow copy, or delete

..How do I get copy or delete to work with shape selection tool?

When you have finalized your shape selection (when you have dragged it out, then added, moved or deleted individual nodes) you need to click on Commit, .
You can then Edit\Copy, Edit/Paste etc the selection. If you click on Discard instead of Commit, it deletes the shape.

When I use the shape selection tool I can make a selection of complex shape, but when I try to copy the shape nothing happens. With the lasso tool the selected shape is copied to the clipboard.

How do I get copy or delete to work with shape selection tool?
