I had that same situation before when running U2023 in a VM. The problem was the graphics driver. Maybe you want to check your graphics card for an update?

hi, after having installed ACDSee Ultimate 2023 on my desktop with 32Gbyte RAM, it works. I.e. pictures are all visible within EDIT mode, which was not the case on my old notebook with 4Gbyte RAM only. Guess the HW requirements need to be updated.

    Hardware

    Intel® or AMD® processor with 64-bit support
Intel i5 or better processor recommended
4 GB RAM (8 GB RAM or more recommended) - with 4GB limited functionality like in my case on EDIT mode
    ...

thanks for checking. Right, firmware was updated from 3.01 to 3.10 on 27th of February. Have tried with pictures taken before that date but no success. RAW is used rarely. Wasn't aware of the RAW setting. Have changed it to lossless.
I blame it for the moment on the 'old' HW. Notebook from 2011 with Intel core i5 U 430 and 4Gbyte of memory only. Will try end of the week when at home again on my desktop with 32Gb.

    Thanks for the link.

The JPG image SKJ_1735.JPG opens here in Edit mode of Ultimate 2023,(Build 16.0.3.3188) as shown below, it also opens OK in View mode and Develop Mode, and the thumbnail is generated correctly.

Click image for larger version Name:	JPG in Edit.jpg Views:	16 Size:	249.8 KB ID:	64315

However, while the RAW file opens in View mode (and can be viewed in both RAW Decode and Embedded Preview mode), in Develop Mode, it does display the image, but the "Loading" indicator remains on screen, and most of the adjustments don't have any effect. It doesn't open at all in Edit Mode and no thumbnail is generated.

Your RAW file also doesn't open in Affinity Photo 2 (says file type not supported) where as the other Z9 RAW images I have open in Affinity Photo 2 OK.

So far the only difference I've found between this RAW file and the other RAW Z9 images I have here of the same pixel size is the Camera firmware version. Yours is showing as Ver 03.10 and the ones I have are showing Ver 01.00.

Edit: From the makers notes in the embedded metadata, the format of this RAW image is High Efficiency*, ACDSee's support for the Z9 states "Lossless compressed Raw only". You might like to try changing the camera setting for RAW format to Lossless compressed RAW.

Can you post a link (WeTransfer, DropBox or similar) to a copy of the photo that isn't showing in Edit?

Started to think about the size of the pictures not displayed. >10Mbytes. But, even a 5Mbyte pic was not displayed.

No, as well when selecting 'Raw + fine' - nothing displayed in edit mode. Only when selecting 'crop' or 'Light EQ' (just tested those two, not all possibilities), then the picture is displayed.

Any known problem with this ?
I'm able to display in Edit mode a NIkon Z9 RAW image 8256px by 5504px (45.4MP), uncompressed 260.0MB.

Any chance your image is a compressed format RAW image. ACDSee 2023 only supports uncompressed RAW images for the Nikon Z9
