What can I do with Facial recognition? Once embedded can I select or filter on the names?

You could to some extent identify the people in a photo by simply assigning their names as keywords, and you can search and quick select on keywords, but that doesn't indicate which face is which if more than one person is in a photo.

Facial recognition is about identifying the individual faces in the photographs, and being able to automatically identify people based on previously identified faces. When a new face is identified that person is added to a list of people, and you can quick select one or more people from that list and in ACDSee Ultimate 2023 you can search on people in the Advanced search., .

There doesn't seem to be a connection between the facial recognition and the tags. If I could select all the pictures with "John" in facial recognition and drag those to the tag called "John" then embed the tags, that would be useful. I have 60K pictures and It looked like at first the facial recognition could do this but I can't find any way to bridge from the facial recognition plug-in to the keyword function. What am I missing?
Training the facial for that many pictures is massive and there should be a way to pull it back out of the picture like the keywords. What I would like to do is embed the names in each picture so If the database fails, I can catalog again and get the people back. This also lets me give the picture to someone else and they can catalog and find all the people.

        You can.
In Manage mode, either select a name from the list in the People section of the Catalog tab (or select it using advanced search), to display all images that contain a face that has been identified with that name, then use Ctrl+A to select them all, and then assign a keyword to the selected images. You can either drag the keyword to the selected images or as I prefer, just tick the box of the appropriate keyword in the properties tab/Keywords section.

The embed ACDSee metadata dialog has two tick boxes as shown in the screen shot below. Providing the face data one is ticked then the face data will be embedded (either directly into the image where the format supports direct embedding or in a sidecar file where it doesn't. It is recovered by the Catalog files function.

Click image for larger version Name:	Embed Metadata.jpg Views:	0 Size:	129.9 KB ID:	64791

This also lets me give the picture to someone else and they can catalog and find all the people.
That is providing they either have a version of ACDSee that supports the Face ID or another product that understands the format in which the Face data is embedded. And in the case of files that require sidecar files, you would need to also provide them with the images.
