Hi there... Im new to ACDSee and cant figure out searching for the life of me. I think I was able to name faces and search by people but i also want to search by objects like food or babies or cars. Where do i start because all those come up with no results. What am i missing?

Do the images have keywords applied to them?

Having just purchased this program and spent a lot of time viewing the videos and it's help system, both lack any overall description of 'how to do' things.

Also, there is no general overview of the basics of cataloging and managing, as used by ACDSee.

I have been using databases on PCs since 1978 and with my wife, we are now writing a Microsoft Access program to import our photo's text data held in Excel. This data was written on various paper methods, then into Psion databases and now converted to Excel. But 'getting into my head' how to use ACDSee is not easy.

Hi, ACDSee does not regnognize things in pictures (except faces), you have to use categories, keywords, ... to tell ACDSee.
        See https://www.acdsee.com/en/video-tutorials/ and others

I have to tag every picture with whats in them in order to search by those words? I have like 40,000 pictures. That seems so laborious.

Can you suggest a better alternative?

Google photos can search by anything without doing anything... i was hoping this would be the same. That's my noobness showing i guess.

Can you actually search for something like "Aunt Mabel's 50th birthday" and have Google locate all of the ex camera photos you took at that birthday party, without you having in any way tagged all of the photos you've given Google access to?

I am not connected in any way with ACDSee, just a user, so this is opinion. With the face detection being the first AI feature in use with ACDSee, I would GUESS that other object identification will eventually come to the tool. Following Google Photos lead on some of these things is not a bad idea.

Now, the face detection feature requires a fair amount of labour to get a clean grouping of faces, so hopefully they can refine this a bit prior to adding other object detection so it works better if and when the time comes.

Assumed other object identification through AI will be in future releases... but maybe not. Until then, yes, tagging is required
