I know I'm very late but in case someone is popping up here ...
AC doesn't allow this. But at least caption and other meta data may be copied from JSON to XMP side car files or images with exiftool.

Importing/recognizing JSON sidecar metadata
I have my phone set to automatically upload my photos to Google Photos. GP has face recognition technology and automatically adds face tags to my photos. I recently downloaded all my Google Photos via Google Takeout. This causes every photo to download with a sidecar .JSON file that has face recognition data, as well as descriptions (aka captions) if they were added, and other metadata. The other metadata is mostly stuff that is already in the photo's embedded EXIF data anyway, so it's the face tag data and descriptions that I'm most concerned with. I am trying to figure out how to get ACDSee to recognize the sidecar metadata, and optionally embed it into the JPGs. Is this possible?
