Hello,

If purchasing ACDSEE Pro or Ultimate stand alone version; would I be able to install a copy on both my Windows PC and Mac or must I choose one?

If you look in the installation folder C:\Program Files\ACDSee Systems\ACDSee Ultimate\15 you will find a file named LicenseAgreement.rtf which contains the licence agreement.
Section 2.5 (Use Restrictions), para (ii) states
"Each licensed copy of this Software may be used on one single Device..."

ACDSee Ultimate and Pro are Windows products. It may be possible to run them on a MAC via a windows emulator but as I am not a MAC user, I have no experience with how successful that would be. The version for MAC is Photo Studio for MAC.

The PC and Mac versions of ACDSee are for the most part completely different pieces of software that do the same job. I have both, and IMHO the PC version is far more full featured and mature. You can run that version on a virtual machine on a Mac, and it should be fine.

Geophizz - Since you have both, what is it that makes the PC more full featured? I am looking at getting new laptop and deciding if I should switch to a Mac, and using ACDSee will fit into the decision making. I am using ACDSee for more organizing then editing. and what is a virtual machine?

What originally drove me to the PC version was that the mac version crashed nearly every time I tried to write metadata to a PNG file. Since then, I've discovered a few differences that make me prefer the PC version. I think the most maddening thing is that the databases are completely incompatible, making it a long, involved endeavor to transfer and sync information between the two.

General things
The database format between the Mac and PC versions are incompatible. This makes sharing data between the two cumbersome at best, and the categories and keyword organization totally different between the two versions. If I make a change in one, I've found that they don't always automatically propagate, and I have to catalog the folder in the other to ensure that the changes are recognized.
Exporting the categories and keywords from the PC version to the Mac version not always work, requiring me to use the cumbersome method of manually tagging a file with every available category and keyword, then cataloging that file on the Mac.
The user interface between the two is different, as are the keyboard shortcuts, making it difficult to develop muscle memory of you use both versions like I do.
The develop capabilities in the Mac version frequently lag a year or two behind the PC version, making it necessary to use an external editor for many edits. This is a bit less true with Mac version 8
The Mac Version crashes when applying metadata to more than 3 PNG files at a time. This is very consistent on my machine. I have hundreds of PNGs that I'm trying to categorize, so this is a showstopper for me.

Things in the PC version that I wish were in the Mac Version
The Mac version does not have an edit mode, and therefore does not support ACDSee's own.ACDC file format. So if you edit a file onn the PC version, it cannot be opened in the Mac version.
While the PC version allows you to display selected metadata in the thumbnail tile for all images on the screen, the Mac version displays the information for a single image in a single line status bar at the bottom of the screen, making it hard to scan and see if you've named or categorized everything properly without scrolling through each image one at a time.
The ability to export photos to online services, such as Flickr, SmugMug and others. (At least I can't find it anywhere)
The ability to perform limited edits in the EXIF data

Things in the Mac version that I wish were in the PC Version
Integrated organizing and searching. The Mac Version uses the same list for organizing and searching your categories and keywords, while the PC version uses 2 different windows
If you use hierarchical categories and keywords, Mac version auto selects the hierarchy above your selection as well, saving a bunch of mouse clicks.
