  • ACDSee 2023 Preview

Looks like there are some significant additions coming.
This is a non-exhaustive list. There are additional features that couldn't be covered in this video. Please view the respective Product Pages for more detail...

Looks quite promising. The advance (sic) search mode looks useful and if I understand correctly, people (i.e. those identified via face recognition) has been added as an ACDSee Metadata category, so if I'm right, getting those names into the IPTC data will be childsplay with a metadata embedding preset. This would be fab.

Looking forward to the new version.

Wonder if Photo Studio Home 2023 Manage mode will have been updated to be identical with Ultimate 2023 Manage mode ?

The video suggests that some updates will not be available in all versions. Updates that show the yellow icon bottom right in the video will be included in the Home version.

Wonder if they have done anything about creating Web pages, it's never work so far.
The rest looks worth updating for though.

                Hallo,
does anyone know if ultimat 2023 will have a multi-document interface (MDI) like Gemstone already has?
                Best regards!

Can't say for sure, but it wasn't mentioned in the new features shown in Adam's preview, and it didn't show in the layouts we saw, so my guess is No.

but that would be a real shame...

Then what would be the point of Gemstone

                          Hi,
there are some things which annoy me in Ultimate 2022. Does anyone know if they have changed some of the following things in Ultimate 2023:
                          - Is it possible to work with several users on the same database (multi-user)?
                          - Is it possible to change the order of the pictures in the detail view of the people mode (order by date taken, order by date recognised, ...)?
                          - Is it possible to switch from the detail view of the people mode to the location of the picture and back?
                          - Is it possible to walk through the pictures in the people mode in full screen mode?

                          Thanks in advance!

As far as I can tell, none of those are listed in new features, and I don't recall them being mentioned in the Workshop.
I would certainly doubt they would have changed the database to a true multi-user database and not mentioned it.

The other three are more minor items, and those areas may have had some tweaks.
When U2023 is released, I'm hoping there is a free trial so the improvements can be tried first hand.

All of these features look useful, but I wish they would add the ability to share selections in the Development mode between functions. Meaning, for example, if I brush a selection on an area for whatever local adjustments I might be doing, I want to be able to use that same selection in the details tab.

Another nice feature would be to have the upgrade not break smart collections that use IPTC data. That process has not worked (at least with my upgrades) ever that I can recall, going back several years. With every upgrade I have to go back to the collections and edit each of them to remove some random criteria that has been added. An example is this: I use several old MF Nikon AI lenses that have no EXIF data to identify the lens. I add a keyword like "Nikon 105mm f/2.5 AIS" and have a smart collection to show all files with that keyword. EVERYTIME I have upgraded that collection is broken, along with all of the other collections that use a keyword for criteria.
